atop, you will have a magnificent panoramic view of the Cayo District
as well as nearby Guatemala. After lunch, you will board the bus
again to go across the Guatemalan Border and on to the Group
Travel Peten Itza Lakeside Hotel. This is a comfortable inn with excellent rooms that sleep
four to six people each, and a large lounge area for lectures and
discussions. This facility is located on the Peten Itza, a deep,

the misty forest canopy and the miles and miles of wide paths and
slender trails through highly protected tropical forest. (Admission fee
$7 per person, and there is a guide available at the park; both to be paid
directly by guests, at the time of service.) Lunch box provided by Peten

the town of Flores. Possible activities here include: Sightseeing,
Shopping for handmade crafts. Some will instead choose to explore the
Cerro Cahui National Rainforest Preserve, a pristine reserve about
1 mile from the lodge. This wonderful nearby resource is a core-protected
prime rainforest, set aside for absolute protection of
biodiversity. There are no human settlements within, and only research and
eco-tourism/education are permitted. Overnight at Peten Itza Lakeside. B,

walled canyons lined with jungle vegetation and wildlife...
shores lined with Mayan settlements... a breathtaking waterfall...
and a even manatee reserve! The people of the region are among
the friendliest you will ever encounter, with a strong sense of community
spirit, pride and service.
Your boat will arrive at the Southern-Eastern Garifuna town of Livingston,
at "bahia de Amatique", for lunch and brief exploration. Then
you will complete your boat trek with your two-hour excursion glancing the
Caribbean across to Punta Gorda in Belize. Once in Punta Gorda, a

ecology. Overnights on SWC in group accommodations. B,

barrier reef on the western hemisphere. South Water Caye, is a beautiful 15-acre island
resting atop Belize's Living Barrier Reef. SWC lies within the National
Heritage Site which is now known as "South Water Cayes Marine
Reserve". The opportunity to snorkel
and explore the reefs will be plentiful, or a 5-minute boat ride to nearby patch reefs, mangrove
habitats or the spectacular drop off! Snorkeling gear is always
available for rent at the resort. .
